Multi-Feedstock Anaerobic Digestion Facility

This facility was awarded a 20-year Offtake Agreement through the Vermont Standard Offer Program (2019), providing long-term price certainty for renewable electricity generated on site.

  • Proven engineering based on PurposeEnergy’s Middlebury anaerobic digestion facility (>1 MW)
  • Designed to process a diverse mix of high-strength organics: ice cream residuals, chocolate, beer, nutraceutical manufacturing residuals, and SSO
  • Achieved commercial operations in December 2024 and is now fully operational
  • Converts regional organic waste into reliable renewable energy, supporting Vermont’s waste diversion and clean energy goals

By aggregating multiple industrial and commercial feedstocks into a single, engineered system, the project demonstrates how centralized anaerobic digestion can deliver scalable energy generation, environmental compliance, and long-term infrastructure resilience.

Ben & Jerry’s is the anchor client for this project, supplying high-strength organic residuals from ice cream production. Their participation helps ensure consistent feedstock volume and supports reliable renewable energy generation.
