Eric Fitch is the visionary Founder & CEO of PurposeEnergy, an MIT-trained engineer with both SB and SM degrees in Mechanical Engineering. With over 25 years of experience in early-stage, venture-backed technology companies—including biotech, clean tech, photonics, and consumer electronics—he holds nine U.S. patents and several international patents.
In 2007, amid rising natural gas prices, Fitch recognized an untapped opportunity in organic waste from breweries. He partnered with Dr. David O’Keefe to develop the patented Tribrid-Bioreactor™, piloting it at Yuengling Brewery and launching PurposeEnergy’s first commercial system at Magic Hat Brewery in 2008. Since then, Fitch has led the company to a global acquisition, positioning PurposeEnergy as a leader in wastewater and organic waste-to-energy solutions.
Under his leadership, the company has deployed multiple industrial-scale waste-to-energy systems serving breweries, distilleries, and dairies—all driven by Fitch’s hands-on approach and his motto, “Saving the Earth. One beer at a time™.” His pioneering work has been featured in National Geographic and on national television, earning recognition for advancing sustainability in the food and beverage sector.
Fitch is deeply involved in strategic development, operations, and customer engagement. When he is not touring sites or conducting wastewater audits, he’s traveling across the country pitching new projects and engaging with customers—yet remains grounded at home in Windham, NH, with his wife and family.
