In 2007, natural gas prices were extremely volatile and its ongoing availability was less than certain. Eric Fitch, an MIT-trained engineer, saw great potential in the waste being generated by the craft beer industry. In his judgment, it offered a promising new way to produce a steady supply of biogas.
Fitch began a fortuitous collaboration with Dr. David O’Keefe, a Florida scientist who independently had been working on a novel design for treating high solid-content wastes. Together, they successfully piloted their process at the Yuengling Brewery in Tampa and patented it under the name, Tribrid-Reactor™.
PurposeEnergy was underway.
From that initial implementation, PurposeEnergy expanded our footprint to include other food and beverage manufacturers who sought a way to enhance both their waste treatment process and bottom line.
Over the years, we’ve grown substantially, expanding our services to include full-service operation and ownership of multiple waste treatment facilities. But one thing hasn’t changed, and that’s our mission.
Our Mission: PurposeEnergy’s mission is to protect the earth’s soil, waterways, and air by transforming food production waste into clean, renewable resources that create shared value for businesses and communities.
We are even more determined today to help our clients extract the value available to them from advanced waste treatment. If our combined efforts contribute to a better world, all the better.
